guess who's back???

picture: Ambassador Bridge which links USA (Detroit) to Canada (Windsor).

ok...so I'm here in Canada with hubster and we are safe and sound.

Yesterday was ROUGH. I just wanted to pack up and turn around and head home. I'm not sure what happened but the denial phase was over and the reality of the situation hit me like a ton of bricks...I fought through. literally fought back tears (hidden from hubby) and just practiced with breathing exercises to try and remain calm and collect.

Today was a much better day and although I'm still feeling "lost" at least I don't feel like I don't belong here. All of my planning paid off and we are up and fully running. No problems with getting anything (utilities) set up and I even have my first bill!

btw: what kinda place is this where I have moved...I had to pull out a sweater today. in September...are you kidding me? LOL. yea I know...its only gonna get worse from here!

Throwback Tuesdays

my mother and I circa 1983

so I went wayyyyyyyyy back. :)

I've been M.I.A. partly because my computer was being upgraded (insert Beyonce's "Let me upgrade you" here) and then when I got it back, I've been crazy distracted just trying to get ready for school.

As I was putting my files back on the hard drive I stumbled over this pic and couldn't stop smiling. If only a Smurfs lunch tin and a uniform was all I needed to be 'ready' for this stage of my academic career!

On a great note: I got an awesome financial gift from a church that I volunteered counseling services to; the check was the exact amount of the cost of books for this semester....PRAISE GOD!

so my books are purchased and I'm feeling more and more loose ends have been tied.

We've got 3 full bags packed- to capacity- and I'm beginning laundry of the last bit of clothes.

The vehicle is fully cleaned/detailed and although there will be a delay in sale (my parents need to use it while their car gets repaired)- I'm feeling better about getting the full amount for it because now there's time to fix a minor problem on it.

So that's me - ready for school... no lunch tin but an awesome leather bag with my name engraved on it. A very cool and unexpected gift from my coworkers.

not quite but very similar to this in two shades of brown:

Check Check and Check!

Ain't that sweet!

Obviously my list wasn't as short as Spongebob's above, but I'm definitely where he is at---I think I have nothing left to do!

I am on the ball and rolling!

What is done:

  • Electricity and water utilities set up (7/25/09)

  • Gas set up (needed for heater and stove) (8/18/09)

  • Cable and Internet set up (8/19/09)

  • Confirmed date of move in with landlord

Only thing left to do is get on the plane and move in...well that's from the Canada side. Tying up loose ends here...I still have to:

  • Sell my car

  • Pack up the apartment

  • Get the US Visa (appt already confirmed)

and I think that's it...Hubby already suggested that I not make selling the car a requirement before we leave. He knows me well. I am obsessive. So I have adjusted my thinking and its my hope to have the car sold but I accept its a chance it may not happen in time.

All-in-all, I love getting things done. I'm a list maker, a list keeper and an overachiever by heart so NOTHING brings me greater pleasure than right now that I can lean back in my chair and go over the mental list and realize that we are well on our way!!!!

MUDDASICK

OMGosh......... I can barely believe it. In 15 days, I'll be in Canada and another chapter in my life would have begun...

....and I'm seriously ready to take on the world!!!
photocredits: post-wedding photo shoot with Mr. Andrew L. Newton, Nassau, Bah.
My husband called just as I began typing this and his sentiments were similiar to my gasp...he merely said one word that summed up a whole lot of emotions:
"Muddasick!"
which for those of you non-Bahamian readers is local colloquialism which is usually used in those "wow" or "unbelievable" moments we experience in life. It's connation can either be positive or negative but is usually just an expression. I have no clue where it came from or even how it came about, but it relays the message clearly!
side note: I was looking for images to go along with this post and came across the cutest, most adorable little girl and her facial expression very literally echoed mine when I realized how little time I have left...I'm assuming because of privacy rights I can't post the image here...but here is the link.
